Alan Glen

These photos are of my Velo with a "before" photo of the parts in my van prior to unloading in 1985.

I have raced the bike in Ireland in a series of road races in the late 80's.( Fore, Sherries, Leitrim...). I also raced it at Ramsey sprint in the IOM. 0 to 60 in 12 seconds if my memory serves me. I ran a shorter time with taller gearing as it took time to change gear??

Home made items are as follows: Rearsets ( anodised) Wiring loom with Yamaha handlebar switches Inlet tract extension and work to cylinder head, cut away fuel tank... move oil tank...etc Froth tower built into oil tank filler cap Bored out carburettor Seat Engine breather system Lots of turning and milling where appropriate. Painting and wheel building.

I built the engine 20 years ago and it has not been apart since apart from a push rod replacement and a M 17/8 cam and better followers. The forks have been rebuilt and the gearbox has been rebuilt recently. It now has a 12 v conversion and the original Miller dynamo. I used to race it in road going condition and got a reprimand at Skerries when a feeble 6v Miller tail lamp was not properly taped up and it was suggested that the red glare might cause an accident on the track. The Norton front brake works well from 100 down to about 30 mph and then needs to cool off.

Thanks to Mr Dodkin and also Nick Payton.
